Home Lifts and Residential Elevators

Residential elevator needs vary from a simple accessibility elevator to an elaborate luxury elevator. Canwest elevator and lifts represents the widest variety of home elevator and Wheelchair lift manufacturers in the province of Alberta. Our product lines include, stair lifts ( or stair glides ), porch lifts (exterior vertical platform wheelchair lifts ), portable lifts , inclined platform wheelchair lifts and home elevators . Over the last decade home elevators have gained in popularity, and have become a reasonable addition to any floor plan.  

Commercial Accessibility

In the province of Alberta Commercial wheelchair lifts are inspected by AEDARSA (Alberta Elevating Devices & Amusement Rides Safety Association) to ensure that they meet the B355-00 code. These vertical wheelchair lifts (formerly known as handicap lifts) have a maximum travel of 23 feet and are ideal to make your community hall, school or place of worship wheelchair friendly. Canwest elevator and lifts has a variety of inclined platform wheelchair lifts ( IPL ) , vertical platform wheelchair lifts and accessibility elevators to meet this goal. We also offer LULA (limited use limited access) elevators. A LULA acts very similar to a passenger elevator with restrictions on car size, speed, and total travel. These devices are inspected under the B44 code and require a licensed elevator mechanic for the installation.

Our elevating devices not only help you achieve wheel chair accessibility they do it in a manner that preserves the dignity of the end user. As barrier free lifts gain in popularity more and more buildings have become wheelchair accessible. It is also possible to retro-fit these wheelchair lifts into existing buildings.

Commercial Elevators (passenger elevators)

Passenger elevators are also inspected by AEDARSA but instead of meeting the B-355-00 code they have to satisfy the B-44 code. Canwest also offers elevator maintenance and modernizations ( elevator modifications ) of existing elevating devices. We also install dumbwaiters that are inspected under the B44 code. This work is done by qualified elevator mechanics

We are currently servicing elevators and wheelchair lifts in Medicine Hat , Lethbridge , Calgary , Red Deer , Edmonton , Grande Prairie , and Fort McMurray. We also have many installations located in smaller centers throughout the province.

We currently recycle equipment for Easter Seals Alberta, and the ALS Society of Alberta. We work with several agencies such as, The Canadian Paraplegic Association, The Cerebral Palsy Association, The Accessible Housing Society, Veteran Affairs Canada, and WCB.
